Millcreek, UT: PRESS RELEASE UPD Board Appoints Chief Mazuran

 

On July 8, 2024, the Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake Board of Directors is pleased to announce the official appointment of Jason Mazuran the new Chief of Unified Police Department. Newly appointed Chief Mazuran is a 29 year law enforcement veteran, having served as the Chief of the UPD for the past six years. He previously has been the Chief of the Salt Lake County Protective Services Bureau and the UPD Midvale Precinct. Chief Mazuran is also a veteran of the UPD SWAT Team. Chief Mazuran will step into this role overseeing the communities UPD continues to serve, including Emigration Canyon, Millcreek, Holladay, Brighton, White City, Midvale, Kearns, Magna and Copperton. Chief Mazuran said he is looking forward to continuing to serve our communities and our officers.   

Effective July 1, 2024, the Unified Police Department will continue its range of investigative units including property crimes, fraud, domestic violence, special victims, violent crimes. UPD also maintain their specialized services in Forensic Investigations, K-9, Drones, Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, School Resource Officers, and UPD SWAT.

The main administrative building for UPD will be in Millcreek at 1330 East Chambers Avenue Suite 220 in Millcreek. Many of the investigative units have now been moved to other precincts within UPD such as Midvale, Kearns, Millcreek, and Holladay.
