Prescription Drug Drop Box

The old practice of flushing drugs down the toilet needs to be stopped!

Each Unified Police Department precinct has a prescription drop-box located in their lobby. Here’s some quick info you need to know before dropping off your expired medications.

Drop-offs are available during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The following drugs are accepted:

  • Prescription medications (Schedule II through V controlled substances and noncontrolled substances)
  • Over-the-counter medications.
  • All common dosage forms, such as tablets, capsules, ointments, and patches are accepted.

The following are NOT accepted:

  • Illegal drugs
  • Needles
  • Lotions or liquids
  • Inhalers
  • Aerosol cans
  • Thermometers
  • Hydrogen peroxide

For safety and security purposes, drop boxes are locked. Precinct staff have keys to open the boxes; please do not leave medications on the top of the bin.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, walk-ins to precinct lobbies are closed. However, precincts will still accept medication drop-offs. Simply call the precinct office prior to your arrival to ensure someone is there to help you.
